Until about a year ago when I decided that it was about time I bought the stupid thing. I kept stalling and putting it off because a hundred and sixty eight dollars is a lot of friggen money!
Finally I decided I had to have one before school started so that I could use it as my "school bag". So when I was in Toronto this last weekend I popped into Holt Renfrew and popped right back out with a shopping bag in hand.
So this, my friends, is the Longchamp Le Pliage tote bag! Isn't she a beauty? :) I chose the chocolate brown colour because I feel like it will match with everything. I was between this one and the black, but ultimately brown is my go to neutral. I will most probably end up purchasing a black in the future, and I also love the navy blue. In my dream world I'd also own the forest green and the white, but we'll have to see about that.
I feel like this bag is so well made. It feels extremely durable. I'm not worried carrying books around in this thing. I feel like that's the reason so many people use it as their go to school tote. It's the perfect size for notebooks and such. And it's very versatile. You can wear this very casually, but if you chose to wear something dressier it still matches.
Now, I do have a little problem with this bag. And it's related closely to the price. You can also get the shorter handled Longchamp bags (not sure of their name) and these bags are one hundred and eight dollars. So essentially I paid eighty dollars for a longer handle! I don't care that it's made from cowhide leather, it can be made from diamonds for all I care! Eighty dollars more is still ridiculous.
I love the tiny little details, like the name printed on the leather flap. I find the quality of the stitching to be very well made and precise. There aren't any loose threads or faulty stitches, trust me, for the price of this bag I checked!
The bag has a waterproof lining on the inside, which is good in case a water bottle or something opens up it won't cause any stains to the exterior fabric. Another good thing is that although it is a tote and therefore pretty much a giant black hole, it does have a very small pocket flap on the inside where you can keep your phone or your keys so that there's no need to go digging around for them.
I especially love the little gold charm on the zipper. The bag doesn't have any heavy hardware, but that's okay. I like the simplicity of it. This bag is perfect for traveling because it's big enough to fit all your stuff in, but if you buy a new bag while on vacation, this one can just fold right up and fit into your suitcase without taking up any room at all!
All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase. It feels so satisfying finally owning this after I've wanted it for so long!

Hi, I live in Toronto. I was wondering which Holt Renfrew you bought it from. Also, was it $168 including tax or without tax? Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was the one on Bloor, I remember getting stuck in traffic between Yonge and Bay for literally twenty minutes! The Holt Renfrew in Yorkdale doesn't carry Longchamps, I checked when I was there.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was $168 without tax
:)
